JULY 16, 2025

It's only been 4 or 5 days since I added an entry to the ole blog and it feels like an eternity. Not it an entirely negative way. Hell, not in a negative way at all, to be honest.

So, let's see. I've been workin' my ass off at the job. Wonky hours, sleep schedule all fucked up, but it hasn't really impacted me too much. Some days a little more tired than others, but man, back in the day I absolutely hated working clopens (closing then opening the next day), but it hasn't really been bothering me. Granted I've only done a couple, but even one would set me off some years back. So that's kinda cool. I feel like it's a result of lazer focusing on getting out of this shitshow homelessness scenario, but whatever the cause - I am not complaining.

Got stranded for a day and half with no gas a couple days back, thankfully I didn't have to work, and some random passerby tossed me a tank of gas. Well, technically two tanks of gas, as I couldn't fit the entire gas can in the tank. Not even sure how many gallons that dude gave me, I should look when I go back out to the truck.

Speaking of "going back to the truck", I'm at a friends house for the night. Well, not even a friend really, a friend of a friend... kinda. A dude one of my homies out west used to work with. I don't even remember how this whole scenario happened, but a few messages and phone calls were exchanged between the three of us - like half a dozen, at best - and he opened his doors to me for a night. So I'm doing laundry, using a stove to prep some food, taking a shower, updating the blog, letting my dog run around in the fenced in backyard, we're gonna play some Mortal Kombat II on his Sega Genesis a little later on. He bought me a whole pizza from the local pizza shop. And speaking food and using a stove, managed to hit the most clutch food shelf ever and got hooked up with some proper stuff. I'm no stranger to using a food shelf, single parenting and all for so long, but typically you get expired or nearly expired food (I know you can still eat a lot of food past expiration dates, don't get me wrong - but when you get food with a death timer that's about to go off, it's a roll of the dice sometimes to get through things before they legit go bad). Anyhow, that's not the case this time. Gonna do alright for the next week or so, which is a huge relief.

A couplefew folks from the incredible Neocities community have tossed me a few bucks and that's been major in keeping toilet paper and dog food in the Armada, I won't blow your cover but know that it means the world and I can't thank you enough (a couple of yall made it actually difficult to try and contact to thank, so sorry that I couldn't get at you personally but that's your fault lol).

There's been a lot of thunderstorms and rain in the area for a while, but especially the last 5-7 days or so. I've managed to get some incredible cell phone photo and video that I'm brainstorming a way to work into an art project. Ideas are bubbling. I don't say that lightly. Shit's been so rough for so long that art and genuine creativity haven't registered very highly on my "things I love and want to do" list. And if y'all know me, art and shit is like my number one passion. That's inspiring for me, brings me hope. I haven't been able to see the forest for the trees in far too long.

I found out there's a new Mortal Kombat movie coming out, starring the main dude from The Boys (which I loved) and it looks to be heavily inspired by the 80s - and especially Kung Fury, if I can say as much. I'm pretty hype. For those that were around for the first iteration of Paintkiller, you may or may not remember my Mortal Kombat shrine and pixel art bits. Long story short - I fucking love Mortal Kombat. Started playing it on arcade when Mortal Kombat II came out. Spent full days in the arcade perfecting my craft, getting my ass handed to me, handing people their asses, watching other people play for tips and tricks, and eventually placing third in regional championships for the game. Needless to say, I fucking love the franchise and I'm hype to see this new one. Gonna prioritize that mess.

I don't want to get terribly political, but I do want to share this video that - for me, anyhow - seemed like such a great explaination and commentary on what is happening in the United States with this abomination of an administration. If you give a shit at all about various perspectives for current events, this one is really good. Don't worry, I'm not going to throw some right wing batshit stuff at you, this is more of an interesting perspective on what the fuck is actually happening when compared to a pop-culture thing that, in this explaination, it is mirrored so closely to.
